Dr. Kathe Hicks Albrecht (è���ƽ� PhD ’17) announces the publication of her dissertation: Machine Anxieties of Steampunk: Contemporary Philosophy, Neo-Victorian Aesthetics, and the Future. Due from Bloomsbury in late 2020, the dissertation was awarded the 2017 Ted Coons Dissertation Prize.

Dr. Albrecht was appointed to the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) National Council in September 2019. The council advises the NEH chairman and helps to approve federal humanities grants for cultural institutions and individual scholars across the nation. Most recently, NEH has been working to distribute emergency funding to institutions and individual scholars affected by the COVID-19 virus, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribal Colleges and Universities, and other institutions that serve highly impacted communities.

As a Special Faculty at è���ƽ�, Dr. Albrecht co-teaches the dissertation preparatory course, guiding third-year students into their dissertation projects.

Additionally, she serves on the National Advisory Board for the National Museum of Women in the Arts, in Washington, DC.
